We moved into our new home in April and I've always wanted huge portraits of my three beautiful girls above my fireplace. So I set out to get three perfect images of my girls that show who they really are. And I actually achieved it! They are in a 20x24 frame (16x20 prints) and are on my mantel. When they get hung, I will post a pic.

My oldest daughter turned 8 this summer, and it was her first birthday party at our new home. Being that her birthday is in August, she invited friends from the previous school year. Summer birthdays are hard, so many people are on vacation or already have plans. It turned out really well, we had 8 of her friends. She had a great time.

Why God made little girls...

When I had the pleasure of meeting these three little girls last night, I found they tugged at my heart. As you already know, I have three girls of my own and somewhat close in age. Their smiles were genuine and their hearts sincere. Christina & David, you are truly blessed!

God made the world with towering trees, majestic mountains and restless seas. Then paused and said, "It needs one more thing... someone to laugh and dance and sing. To walk in the woods and gather flowers... to commune with nature in quiet hours." So God made little girls with laughing eyes and bouncing curls, with joyful hearts and infectious smiles, enchanting ways and feminine wiles. And when He'd completed the task He begun, He was pleased and proud of the job He'd done. For the world, when see through a little girl's eyes, greatly resembled Paradise.

Scooby Dooby Doo! A Sneak Peek just for you!

I met up with my good friend from High School last Sunday. We hadn't seen each other since graduation! Felt like nothing changed. :) Her family felt like family to me. What is a mini session?
A mini-session is a 20-30 minute portrait session for up to 5 people, opposed to a full portrait session that can range between 60 - 90 minutes in length.
This is mainly targeted for family/group portraits, not individuals. This is best for the busy family on the go. You will be provided 10-15 images in your gallery to view for purchase.

Where do they take place?
Mini-sessions can take place nearly anywhere outdoors, park or beach.

When are the sessions offered?
I will be booking time slots in early September. Email me if you are interested in setting up a time.

Mini-sessions are perfect for a family portrait, reunions, or getting that image for your Christmas card! Yes, I did say Christmas. Come on, it's only 5 months away. ;)

Brooke is the wild red-head. The quirky, fun, mischievous little girl with a spirit none can compare! I caught her with this expression and it made me stop dead in my tracks. I love her little hands clasped so tightly. She was actually at a birthday party at a gym.

She's 5 1/2. When? Wasn't she just crawling? The backlighting on this suits her. If you know Brianna, you would know she has a very gentle soul. Her spirit is full of compassion, love and happiness.

Murphy's Law

Wiki says that Murphy's law is an adage in Western culture that broadly states, "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong." How hard is it to get a family picture? In your own home with your own studio with your own camera, tripod and timer? IMPOSSIBLE.
Phoebe has a fever. Brooke fell asleep. Then Brooke woke up and Phoebe went to sleep. The only one that was coherent was Brianna. AH well, this is what I got. Not bad.... not bad at all.

My baby girl just turned one year old. She had her first taste of cherry tootsie roll pop the other day. She was so nice to share back with her big sister, but wasn't so happy when big sister kept it.

I promised myself I'd keep up with this, but I really fell off the wagon! My mom came from Texas for a very wonderful visit, and I had a great session with two cuties a week ago.

My kids have the most expressive faces. I have tons of pictures of smiles, frowns, mad faces, sad faces and blank stares. I love to capture every single one. It shows how imaginative and charming they really can be. Brooke is usually my girl of many faces and I will have to post separately on that, but I recently was shutting down the lights in the studio when Brianna came to me and said TAKE MY PICTURE. So I, of course, turned the light back on and snapped off an shot. When I finally got to see it on the computer, it took me back 3 years ago when she stood in the kitchen and gave me the same look. Gotta love it.

It's been awhile because this house has been under attack! Fever, chills, flu, colds, pink eye, you name it! I think, hope, and pray that we are all getting better.

Everyone has a New Year's Resolution, right? Usually get fit, eat better, etc. Well, I started that in October because New Year's resolutions are over-rated. :) Just kidding. My New Year's resolution is a 52 week project. Each weekend, take a photo of each of my girls. I'm not pinning myself to a pose, or to something spectacular. Just a snap of them, each of them for 52 weeks. I hope to make it!

I'm in the process of getting a new backdrop up. My most favorite father-in-law brought over the materials today, hopefully my wonderful husband can work on it tonight. *wink, wink This weekend, I'm shooting for some Valentine samples. But in the meantime, I did this last night. Next time, I'd move the older girls closer together and have Phoebe down a bit more. Ask Pete, it's hard to hold a wiggly 11 month old. So without further ado, here it is.

It was the coldest day... ever. Several degrees below zero with 30 below wind chills. The wind was so strong it rattled the windows throughout the day. I don't even want to know what the utility bill will be, the furnace seemed to be going constantly.

After dinner, I called the girls downstairs to practice. Although it was pure excitement for them when I asked who wanted their picture taken, when it came down to it, I only had one willing participant.

Her name is Nina. She's about a year old. We got her last weekend from the shelter. She's a Russian Blue mix and has the most gorgeous amber colored eyes. There is a bit of white on her chest and a little on the tip of her tail. I like my willing participant.

It snowed a good 12 inches last night. The snow plow came through and it's as high as the top of our mailbox. I want to get out there and get some pics of the kids playing, but Brianna has been sick the past few days. We are supposed to get more tomorrow night. We will, without a doubt, have a white Christmas.

So instead, I resorted to some editing of pictures I took a week ago. Here's one taken in the studio with the black backdrop. I'm loving this backdrop. Looking forward to getting a grey seamless paper... someday!
